We keep it in drive this week as we stumble into The Rails Rumble which is currently under way and then Shaun finds some Linux developers trying to save the planet. Kevin also found a new favorite podcast via TalkShow.Net and plays around with the new mini-minimalist site Jottit. Oh, and there’s more there as well. Enjoy!
TED - Sometimes I come across sites that lots of other people seem to know about, or that have been going on for some time, and wonder whether I should add them to my roundup list. I wanna be fresh, you know? No one wants to publish old news. Well, TED.com (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is one of those sites. How could I have not known about this site before? It’s cram packed with presentations on just about every topic imagineable from many of my heroes, not to mention, the quality of the video and audio is first-rate. Check out the new presentation by John Maeda on simplicity patterns (among other things).
Nice To Meet You - Great community site for some fresh design from around the world (with a heavy European accent).
Less Watts - Linux developers and users interested in saving the planet can start right at home. After all, there’s almost as many holes in the ozone as there are in Microsoft products. Doh!
TalkShow.Net - From John Gruber of Daring Fireball fame and Dan Benjamin of Hivelogic uber fame
comes my new personal favorite weekly podcast. And actually, these guys are our next interview coming down the pipe. If you’re at all interested in cameras or photography then I suggest you make sure to check out their episode when they talk photography with James Duncan Davidson.
The Playlist - a blog dedicate to the music behind the movies - really awesome.
Jottit - In what may seem like a ridiculous idea could actually be a win for Aaron Swartz, one of the creators behind the popular social news site Reddit. It’s so simple to use it’s brilliant - “Jottit makes getting a website as easy as filling out a textbox.”
Juxtaviews Jottit - our Juxtaviews jottit page where we ask you guys to let us know who you want to see us interview in the coming months.
Social Marker - flood the popular social bookmarking sites from one central location.
Rails Rumble - Teams of up to 4 people will have 48 hours to build the ultimate web application in Ruby on Rails.” - oh, it’s on!
Tasty Planner - one of the Rails Rumble entries I really like. A nice little recipe site. You guys did this in 48 hours? Niiiiiice.
