This morning, I began my recovery from a wedding weekend. You guys may know what that recovery period is like, especially if you’ve been in the wedding party and maybe if the sky cries sleet and snow for an entire day making traveling on the Garden State Parkway one of the worst/dangerous experiences of my life (which means I’ve had a pretty easy/safe life then I guess or I’m just a baby).
But if you like driving on a sheet of ice with rolling monsters of death flying by you and dodging the other cars doing 360’s forty yards in front of your own car and then dealing with SUV a**holes who think that driving an SUV means they’re driving a tank and who cares if they crash into you because they’re driving the bigger car. And worse yet - these monsters of death are being controlled by Jersey drivers. If these kind of elements don’t bother you then you’re a bigger person than I am or just a lunatic.
Anyway, one thing I forgot to do before I left this weekend was leave a “thank you” post to one of those truly creative people “making the web”, ZeFrank.
ZeFrank is a one man podcast written, taped, and edited by Ze himself (actually, I need to confirm that he does the editing). I’m saying thank you because his show is now over. He completed his one year “internship” which was essentially an agreement between himself and whoever watched his show that he’d created a short podcasts every day of the week (M-F). I don’t know about you, but just writing a good blog entry every few days is difficult enough. Ze produced something new, funny, witty, intelligent, sometimes political, sometimes addressed social issues, sometimes from out in left-field about his shadow or christmas trees, but always good, and sometimes great.
And let’s not forget the “sports racers” - the fans. Just checking out the forums you can tell “the show” has a loyal following. And this isn’t some type of fanatical “i love ze” type stuff, well, I guess some of it is. But the forum is people sharing opinions about his shows, commenting on his topics, and discussing all things and anything really. There is even a section for “sport racer meetups” just in case you want to hang out with fellow “sport racers”.
I contacted Ze a few weeks back and asked for an interview. I’m supposed to follow later this month, and hopefully Ze will still be available because I’d really like to find out what his plans for the future are. Personally, I can’t imagine he won’t be back online creating at least one podcasts per week because frankly - you know people would watch it. But who knows really.
I’ve heard rumors he has aspirations for Hollywood. Whatever he does I’m thanking him now because he made me smile almost every day of the week - sometimes just that initial shot of his ugly mug (jk ze) would make me laugh in anticipation of the unknown he was about to drop on us. He’s one of those few webebrities (wtf) that made a name for himself using the few tools made available to him - an internet connection, a video camera, and his skull. If you’re a fan of blogging and/or you’re a fan of podcasts (or is it vidcasts?), but you’ve never heard of ZeFrank then head over to ZeFrank and check out “the show” and his archive. And thanks Ze for the laughs and every day random musings of yours, and good luck.
