Today I launched a new website and I treated myself to a wii.
Ok, real fast about the wii. I finally got one two weeks ago an love it. I’m not playing every day or for hours on end, but when I have friends and family stop by we’ll throw it on for some entertainment. Actually, for those people who are playing the wii for the first time, after they leave I’ve received a few messages about how sore they are from playing it. I think that #1 - my family and friends need to be more active ;P and #2 it’s a really great gaming console for the physical aspect of it. Also, I’m not a gamer at all, so I come from a different perspective but maybe that’s why the wii is still drawing lines at stores - it cross pollinates both gamers and “weekend” gamers. Anyway, the wii just makes sense and everyone really has a good time playing it, young or old. Other people are loving it as well.
So, today, I have a little self promotion - I launched a new product I’ve been developing over the past 3.5 weeks. It’s called MillionDollarAvatar(MDA) and it’s all about advertising your blog, company, etc and meeting new people. But there’s a bit of a twist.
- Every day we display only 100 randomly selected members on the homepage (this will kick in once there are 100+ members)
- The “backpage” randomly select 100 new members every 5 minutes so you have a greater chance of being discovered.
- Ever day the system generates The Daily 20 which is 20 randomly selected members and provides a link to their profile and their tagline. This Daily 20 is then inserted into the MDA blog so users who subscribe to our main feed or just our Daily 20 feed and get 20 new random links each day.
There’s also other ways to find people by location, tag, favorites, recently viewed, etc, etc.
And then there’s all the social networking features members have - favorites, tagging, messages, etc.

MDA is not funded. It’s a project I’ve had in my mind for sometime. I’m lucky enough to have a pregnant wife and she’s been falling asleep real early so I took the opportunity to build out this product.
