The morning after the TechCrunch NY party didn’t slow us down. We got plenty ‘o links for you in this week’s roundup ranging from the philanthropic to the once unthinkable.
StumbleUpon - I literally stumbled upon this site after viewing where some of our traffic was originating from and now I’m hooked. Install their toolbar, select your favorite categories, and start surfing the web randomly “focused”. It’s like pandora for the web. It find sites that it think you’ll like. The more you participate in the experience - by giving sites thumbs up or thumbs down it makes the engine smarter and allows you to stumble upon more and more sites that interest you. It’s awesome.
Ajax, DHTML, Javascript Libraries - two weeks in a row we go to the SmashingMagazine well for another great link. I think the peeps over at smashing have a new gem on their hands. Great work!

Google, Yahoo and Microsoft Agree to Standard Sitemaps Protocol - the big 3 agree to work on sitemap protocol. Web developers rejoice… well, maybe not just yet. Let’s see how this pans out in the long run.

How Funding Works - Valleywag covers an article in the NYC and provides insight into how funding works for those who don’t know.
Dr Vino - I love this guys blog. I’ve been a long time reader of Tyler Colman’s wine blog for one main reason - it’s not snobish. He’s a self proclaimed “wine geek” and simply wants to teach people to love wine for what it is, not the price or the label. For those looking for a good wine on the cheap he maintains a value wines list - which means a bottle $10 or less, and yes they are good. He even teaches wine classes at NYU and University of Chicago.
Foodview - well, if you’re going to do a bottle of wine, then you need a nice dinner to go along with it. I’d chose lamb myself with a bottle of red, but for those undecided, Foodview let’s you search for that special recipe to your stomachs content. Simple, clean… good job.
Writerisms and other Sins - good read for writers or wanna be writers. I think I need to review this list myself.
Speed Test - how fast are you really surfing the information highway? SpeedTest analyzes your broadband connection by pinging other geographically placed testing servers. Super slick UI, and if you have the time to go bother your ISP about slow connectivity issues, these guys can help you provide some data to fight your battle.
Freelanthropy - This site offers a way to support your favorite non-profit group simply by searching Yahoo. This is a great idea, and each search is worth DOUBLE for the month of November!
Wireless Power - Wires are the opposite of feng shui. I’m looking forward to the day when there’s no more spaghetti and power bricks to untangle. It can’t get here fast enough for me.
Fleshy Organs - This plugin links your playlists from last.fm’s audio scrobbler to your WordPress blog. Be warned, I haven’t tested this, but it’s certainly on my to-do list.
Section Seven - Simply brilliant interface design for a design and advertising company.
Friends Abroad - This social network allows you to link up with “pen pals” from around the world in order to help you learn foreign languages. Yo quiero a apprender Espańol!

Wink - The social search engine allows you to search for your friends across MySpace, Bebo and LinkedIn.
sitemaps.org - Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. Yahoo, Google and Microsoft have all agreed on a standard protocol.
Multiply.com - Like an invite only version of myspace.com. Share your photos, video, music, blogs and more with the people you already know and love.
Veeker - Send video “text” messages from your phone.
Youmail - Among its many features, YouMail allows you to record unique voice greetings for anyone who calls you, based on their caller ID.
